Product Information:

  • Breeding location: Drenthe, The Netherlands

  • Species: Tenebrio molitor (mealworm)

  • Delivery: Packed and shipped fresh daily

  • Not shipped when temperatures exceed 25°C (to ensure animal welfare)

Suitable for:

  • Garden birds and aviary birds

  • Chickens, quails, and other poultry

  • Reptiles such as geckos, bearded dragons, and chameleons

  • Fish and insect-eating mammals

Storage Instructions:

  • Do not store in the fridge if you plan to continue breeding the mealworms

  • Keep mealworms in a cool (10–18°C), dry, and dark place

  • Use a wide, shallow container with a maximum depth of ±1 cm of mealworms

  • Provide food, such as:

    • Special mealworm feed (available in our shop)

    • Alternatively: carrot, apple, or potato (cut into small pieces)

With proper care and cool storage, mealworms can be kept for about one month.
Note: Over time, they will pupate and turn into beetles.

Pupation or high mortality is often caused by:

  • Too many mealworms in one container

  • Insufficient food

  • Poor ventilation or excess moisture

Check regularly for mold or an overly damp environment.

How to use it
  • Keep the mealworms cool (10–18 °C), dry and dark; do not refrigerate them if you intend to continue breeding them.

  • Feed mealworm food or small pieces of carrot, apple or potato and check regularly for mould and excess moisture.
