Compost Worm Mix – for Worm Bins, Worm Towers & Compost Heaps

Our Compost Worm Mix contains the most effective compost worm species: Eisenia fetida, Eisenia andrei and Eisenia hortensis (Dendrobaena veneta). These worms are known for their strong appetite, fast reproduction and ability to convert kitchen and garden waste into rich vermicompost.

Why choose this worm mix?

  • Efficient composting

  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor systems (worm bin, worm tower, compost heap)

  • Strong, stable population due to multiple species

  • Recovers quickly under changing conditions

Which worms are included?

  • Eisenia fetida – Tiger worm; naturally found in manure and compost heaps

  • Eisenia andrei – A darker, highly active species; processes organic waste very quickly

  • Eisenia hortensis / Dendrobaena veneta – Larger, strong worm; ideal for outdoor composting and resistant to temperature fluctuations

Together, these worms create a powerful combination for an optimal composting system.

What do compost worms eat?

  • Fruit and vegetable scraps

  • Coffee grounds and tea leaves

  • Cardboard, paper and crushed eggshells

  • Leaf waste and light garden waste

Not suitable: meat, fish, dairy or fats.
For detailed feeding information, check our feeding guide.

Natural habitat

These worms naturally live in manure piles, leaf litter and other organic-rich upper soil layers. They do not dig deep, making them ideal for worm bins and worm towers.
