Onion 'Red Baron' is a slightly flattened onion with a beautiful, red color and a spicy taste. This onion has a relatively high yield and can be stored well. In addition, 'Red Baron' is also suitable for bunching; a recognized onion.

Seed onions need a relatively long time to grow and ripen properly.

Sow in the period March to mid-April at the latest. Sow at a row spacing of 25 cm, thin out at 5-10 cm in the row. Sowing depth: about 5 mm. Placing strongly scented plants such as chamomile, savory and carrots in the immediate vicinity of the onions could have a mixed effect on the onion fly.

Onions grow best in relatively heavy, clayey soils. This certainly also applies to the 'Red Baron'.

In the months of August - September, the foliage will flatten (or 'strike') and die. Pull the onions out of the ground with leaves and let the bulbs dry in an airy place, and not in full sun. The onions can be stored well until spring, provided they are cool and dry.
