The Green Calabrese likes warmth and a nutritious, moist soil. Sufficient manure/compost must be given for a good outgrowth of the shoots. Only use young plants when transplanting. Sowing can be done from mid-March. Plant out after 4 to 5 weeks at a distance of at least 45 x 45 cm. The shoots are normally harvested just before the first yellow flowers appear.
